DNV GL showcases Smarter Operations services to increase wind asset value and safety at HUSUM Wind 2015 to support the maturing wind energy industry

DNV GL, the world’s largest resource of independent energy experts and certification body, today presents its Smarter Operations service portfolio at HUSUM Wind 2015 (Stand 1E28, Hall 1).

Focused on the operational phase of the project life cycle, the service portfolio combines analytical capabilities with practical on-site assessments, spanning from short-term forecasting to optimised inspections and monitoring services. The portfolio has been developed to support wind and solar energy project developers, owners and operators to boost the revenue of their assets.

A report by the Global Wind Energy Council highlighted that 2013 was the first year in over two decades that wind installation rates dropped globally. This shift in emphasis from building new capacity towards the optimisation of the existing fleet is being heralded by a greater focus on safety and asset value. To support the industry in optimising the management of its current fleet, DNV GL has developed an integrated approach to accelerate changes to the operational project life cycle.

Michael Lange, DNV GL’s Section Head Asset Operation & Management for Energy in Central Europe and Mediterranean, commented: “Alongside the forecast that new installations of wind capacity will remain flat for the foreseeable future, we see that ownership of the operating fleet is changing radically. Institutional investors are now playing a significant role. As well as operators and developers, these types of owners take a long-term perspective on their assets. With our combined data analytical know-how and hands-on presence on site, we support our customers with operational insights to deliver a tailored asset management service to future-proof their investment.”
