DNV GL becomes the first accredited laboratory to evaluate the requirements of the new Spanish technical standard for grid connection

Madrid, December 19, 2019. -DNV GL, the world's largest resource of independent energy experts and certification body, has been accredited by the Spanish National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) to assess the requirements of the new Spanish technical standard for connection to the net.

During the last 35 years, DNV GL has been a benchmark in the development of different technical standards, grid codes, specifications and guides to international recommended practices, contributing with its own vision and experience to the success of the deployment of renewables worldwide.

This trajectory has allowed DNV GL to become the first accredited laboratory to carry out conformity assessment tests of electricity generation modules in accordance with the Technical Supervision Standard prepared by Red Eléctrica de España (REE) and the Distribution companies.

The “Norma Técnica de Supervisión de la conformidad de los módulos de generación de electricidad según el Reglamento UE 2016/631”was published last July allowing the conformity of the modules to be evaluated according to regulation (EU) 2016/6312016/631, which establishes the minimum technical requirements in terms of power quality that new facilities must meet. in order to guarantee the stability of the European electricity system, the integration of renewables, and facilitate electricity trade in the EU.

With the implementation of this European regulation on the connection of generators to the grid (Regulation (EU) 631/2016), new grid codes and testing standards were established in each country.

These new grid codes represent a paradigm shift for all the entities involved: updating and creating new requirements, harmonization at European level, new certification processes, equipment manufacturers, owners, test laboratories, network operators, distributors and certifier bodies have to adapt to this new challenge.
