“South East Asia stands poised to become an innovation hub of the future. Singapore in particular is leading the way to make shipping more efficient and smarter through innovative thinking and targeted regulation. DNV GL has made significant investments in maritime advisory and optimization services to support this rapidly advancing region, such as our ECO Research Centre developed in cooperation with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, which is seeking novel solutions for improved fuel efficiency, emissions control, and the use of alternative fuels,” said Steen Brodsgard Lund.

“In the Asia Pacific region we will soon see one of the largest floating structures ever built put into operation, the Shell Prelude floating LNG facility, which will service the gas fields off Australia. This project has benefited from the broad spectrum of expertise that DNV GL has to offer and we are looking forward to supporting more offshore projects throughout the region. The Royal Australian Navy is also a longstanding project partner and we will continue to support them with class and advisory services. The Asia Pacific region enjoys a diversity of cultures, industries and expertise – from complex offshore structures in Singapore, pontoons and barges in Indonesia and Malaysia to racing and luxury yachts in New Zealand and sophisticated container vessels in the Philippines. DNV GL will allow us to offer more local services with a deeper level of support and expertise, in all of these varied areas, wherever our customers might be,” said Mr Lund.

Steen Lund joined Germanischer Lloyd in 2010 after spending more than 20 years with A. P. Moller – Maersk, where he was primarily involved in the container liner business, rising to the role of Senior Vice President, Eastern Operations Centre at Maersk Line. Most recently based in Shanghai with GL, Mr Lund also founded his own company, Red Dot Energy, which delivered IT and process management solutions in the shipping and port industries, with a focus on reducing energy consumption and resulting costs as well as contain CO2 and other emissions reductions.
