The decision of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to limit the sulphur content of ship fuel from 1 January 2020 to 0.5 per cent worldwide, and the recently adopted ambition to reduce green house gas emission by 50% up to 2050 have the potential to become game changers.

This situation has created an atmosphere of uncertainty across the shipping industry regarding the direction to take in terms of future energy sources.

In this webinar we highlight the major challenges and benefits for the most relevant alternative fuels:

  • Fuel availability in the quantities needed for shipping
  • Fuel costs
  • Environmental benefits
  • International rules within the IGF Code

This webinar is mainly relevant for decision-makers and technical managers in shipping companies, but any maritime stakeholder can also benefit.

The presenter was Dr Gerd-Michael Würsig, Business Director for LNG-fuelled ships at DNV GL – Maritime.
