MSC APOLLINE was delivered from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) in April 2021, increasing the number of ultra-large containerships operated by MSC. The vessel belongs to the second-generation series of vessels built at DSME: it is 400 metres long, 61 metres wide and 33.2 metres high, and can carry more than 23,000 20-foot containers at once. It is designed to be converted into a future LNG fuel-powered ship. On top of several class notations, the vessel fulfils the DNV FCS class notation, as it is equipped with an advanced firefighting system which goes beyond the relevant mandatory regulations.
