Guidelines on CII and SEEMP have been finalized – immediate action is recommended

The SEEMP Part III is a dynamic document subject to regular updates and revisions, reflecting the changing performance and required measures. It is intended to help companies achieve the annually required Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) – calculated based on the reported IMO DCS data. Ships are then rated from A to E on how efficiently they transport goods or passengers with regards to CO2 emitted. At least midpoint C rating should be achieved to avoid consequences with further requirements in following years.

The SEEMP Part III needs to be approved and on board by 1 January 2023. The first reporting of the CII based on 2023 data is due no later than 31 March 2024. 

With less than half a year to go to ensure compliance with the new MARPOL regulation and meet the SEEMP III verification deadline, it is recommended to take immediate action.
