This vessel is the first in a series of six methanol dual-fuel tankers projected by Proman and Stena and built by Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI). The smart design makes the vessel the world’s most energy efficient MR tanker of today, represented by a unprecedented low EEDI value. STENA PRO PATRIA can run on methanol fuel, making use of the proven technology for methanol fuel supply and safety systems, and the main engine features a dual-fuel design. The NOx Tier III compliance is achieved by mixing water with the fuel instead of the traditional post-combustion exhaust gas treatment system. A novel design main engine shaft generator provides electrical power at sea, saves energy and saves running hours on the three generator sets. For cargo handling, the vessel features a PSA nitrogen system, two tank cleaning heaters and pumps, a cargo tank dehumidification system and two auxiliary boilers.
