Speaker bio:
Francesco Vanni is a Principal Engineer and Head of the Renewables department and DNV Energy Systems – UK & Ireland, a group of 80 engineers delivering expert technical advice to developers, owners, operators, investors and lenders in the renewable energy and electrification space. He joined GL Garrad Hassan, now part of DNV, in 2011. As a control algorithm designer first and data analyst later he has been involved in many commercial and research projects in the areas of onshore and offshore wind, both fixed and floating, tidal energy and solar PV, as well as in the delivery of internal and external training. His previous experience is in control of gas turbine engines for the aerospace sector and in academic research on autonomous vehicles. He holds an MSc in Aeronautics from Politecnico di Milano and an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from IST Lisbon. Francesco is a chartered member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and a Senior Member of the IEEE.
