This six day masterclass focuses on integration issues both at the project and enterprise levels. During the workshops the students practise in creating integrated designs based on the application of integration patterns. We study the concept of the Enterprise Service Bus, essentially a distributed version of an integration broker.
Programme
Day 1 - Service Oriented Architectures
We will talk about the basic theory behind intergration and we will introduce the concept of a service oriented architecture as one of the more popular styles for the design of an integrated architecture. We will discuss the issues around migration problems.
Day 2 – The Data Perspective
Today we will examine the issues around integration from a data perspective. You will get acquainted with theories in the field of data management and data warehousing, the use of metadata repositories and middleware for data integration.
Day 3 – The Application Perspective
Applicatie Integratie and Middleware are the central themes on day 3. Various topologies such as broker and bus pass will be reviewed. Attention is given to the use of web services and the restrictions that still exist.
Day 4- The Process Perspective
Integrating business processes is important for an organisation internally, but also as a means of achieving chain integration. We will discuss – with the help of real life examples and best practices – the methods and techniques that help to integrate business processes.
Day 5 - Governance
If there is one success factor underestimated in daily practice, then surely it is governance. Integration irrevocably leads to administrative complexity and this requires clear policy – on strategic, tactical and operational levels. We will examine performance indicators, sourcing, requirements and change management.
Day 6 - Synthesis
During the final day we discuss how the knowledge gained in this masterclass can be used to determine an integration strategy. You will formulate a number of concrete steps for the use of integration technology within your own organisation.
