Course fee:GBP1,500 or USD2,650 per instructor per day

Description
This course can be a module of the full 4 day Phast advanced training or can be delivered standalone. It is comprehensive course covering all the flammable models available within Phast. Models which are covered include:

  • BLEVE Blast
  • Jet fire
  • Pool fire
  • TNT explosion
  • TNO Multi-energy explosion
  • Baker-Strehlow explosion.

For each topic, the course covers provides an overview of the basis of the model, all the input variables, selection of suitable parameter values, and interpretation of the various reports and graphs. During the course, participants will be required to practise and apply their new knowledge of the software through extensive hands-on workshops.

Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will understand the theoretical and practical aspects of the Phast flammable and explosion models, how these can be used standalone, or linked with Phast’s other modelling capabilities. Participants will have a much more detailed knowledge of the flammable models available within Phast than those who have attended the Phast Introduction course only. They will have a much better understanding of the capabilities of the models, and their limitations, along with more detailed understanding of the controlling parameters.

Target group:
People who need to carry out detailed consequence modelling calculations using Phast and need a good understanding of the theoretical basis of the flammable and explosion modelling capabilities available within the software.

Prerequisite
This course is suitable for users who are already familiar with the software and have either attended the SA-01 Phast introduction training or are experienced users of the software. A good understanding of the concepts of consequence, dispersion and effects modelling is required, particularly for materials which have flammable properties, as is some experience of using this technology in the process industry.
