Date and venue: on request

The course covers DNV's theoretical and practical experience within the fields of shaft alignment, whirling and axial vibrations and relates these to good practice for carrying out calculations utilising the Nauticus Machinery Shaft Alignment tool. Basic theory will be taught as well as giving an insight into new technology gained by DNV through several comprehensive research projects.
The course will include hands-on training with relevant exercises such as optimisation of offsets, stern tube reaction force location, verifiction results and more.
The course is suitable for new users of Nauticus Machinery, old users of ALIGN (Shaft Analysis AB) or any other specialised shaft alignment application.
Alternatives:
Normally we tailor-make the training based on the type of propulsion system that is manufactured by the client. Most yards in China produce "direct coupled" systems, while other yards in Korea and Europe produce more complex "geared" systems. This will influence the course length and scope of the presentations.
Prerequisite:
Basic kowledge about beam theory, shaft alignment calculations and onboard verification methods is required.
