COURSE: Nauticus Machinery gear faceload and gear rating

The course covers basic gear technology, DNV's gear calculation methods and relevant software. The course has the following topics:

• Cylindrical gear geometry
• Gear calculation factors
• Gear materials
• DNV Rules for gears
• DNV classification note 41.2, calculation of gears in marine applications
• Basic information about ISO with regard to gearing
• Nauticus Machinery Gear Faceload and Gear Rating software
  

Alternatives:
The course scope can be adjusted depending on the participant's competence on basic gear technology. Parts of the course can also be omitted, e.g. the bevel gear part (if the manufacturer do not produce bevel gears).

Prerequisite:
Knowledge about vibration and fatigue calculations as well as basic knowledge of component behaviour in propulsion systems is required.
