COURSE: Nauticus Hull FE analysis (Tank)

The course covers cargo hold modelling in the parallel midship area. The course focus in on 2D- and 3D-modelling, definition of compartments and rule loads. The course also covers an introduction to Patran-Pre as the finite element modeller, interaction with the analysis program Sestra and the postprocessor Xtract.

The course comprises lectures and workshops. Hands-on exercises will guide the user throughout the training.

Topics covered are:

  • 2D-modelling of structural parts
  • 3D-assembly modelling, definition of compartments and rule loads
  • Concept model for a Finite Element (FE) analysis
  • Finite Element modelling - basic features (Patran-Pre)
  • Linear static structural analysis (Sestra)
  • Results presentation - basic features (Xtract)

Prerequisite:
It is assumed that the participants have some knowledge about the Brix Explorer tool for job management, vessel particulars specifications and files and model handling. This is covered in the Nauticus Hull Rule Check introduction course, and it is therefore an advantage if the participants have completed this course. It is also assumed that the participants have basic knowledge in Finite Element modelling and analyses.
