COURSE: Nauticus Hull FE analysis (Bulk)

The course covers cargo hold modelling of bulk carriers according to Common Structural Rules by use of Nauticus Hull and GeniE. Topics addressed include extruce section scantlings, 3D modelling of cargo holds, definition of compartments and rule loads. Sestra is used to solve the linear structural analysis and Xtract to post-process the analysis results. The course comprises lectures and workshops.

Topics covered are:

• Introduction to Nauticus Hull
• Concept modelling for a Finite Element model
• Definition of compartments and rule loads
• Linear static structural analysis
• Results presentation and post-processing

Workshops:

• Extrude section scantlings from Nauticus Hull and create 3 cargo hold model in GeniE.
• Automated creation of compartments, loads and boundary conditions in Nauticus Hull according to CSR Bulk and data transfer to GeniE.
• Analyse model in Sestra and post-process using Xtract.

Prerequisite:
It is assumed that the participants have knowledge in Nauticus Hull Rule Check and basic knowledge in FE (Finite Element)analysis.
