This 3-days course introduces the participants to Sesam’s new module Wasim for doing advanced hydrodynamic analysis of all kinds of ships from conventional mono-hulls to high-speed multi-hull vessels. The program uses 3D theory and can provide accurate responses for both local and global quantities. The course consists of lectures and practical excercises.
The course covers hydrodynamic analysis of vessels (Wasim) plus the corresponding statistical postprocessing of results (Postresp). Advanced graphical visualisation of analysis results is also covered (animation features of Xtract).
Topics covered are:
- Recommended procedures for running a Wasim analysis.
- Introduction to the Wasim graphical user interface including import of geometry and mass data.
- Meshing
- Overview of numerical features as needed for efficient use of Wasim.
- Computations for a vessel in waves including use of motion control systems.
- Animation of time domain data with Xtract.
- Conversion to frequency domain.
- Statistical post processing in frequency domain with Postresp.
- Load transfer in frequency domain.
Prerequisite:
Some knowledge in hydrodynamic analysis and basic knowledge in FE analysis using Sesam are assumed.
