DNV Software will be a significant design and research implement for China's Wuhan Ship Development and Design Institute.

The Wuhan Ship Development and Design Institute (WSDDI) focuses on the general design, hydrodynamics, structural mechanics and other research with respect to ships, submersibles and offshore structures. WSDDI has a history of more than 40 years; today it has more than a thousand research fellows, including one CAE academician and more than 500 senior engineers. It is located in Wuhan City and belongs to the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC).
The cooperation between WSDDI and DNV Software started in August 2007, when WSDDI purchased Nauticus Hull – Wave Load Analysis package (including HydroD, Wadam, Wasim, Waveship, etc.) to help study the hydrodynamic performances of ships and floaters. After training and support from Pan Zhiyuan Peter, the engineers in the global performance division could carry out simulation of zeroand non-zero forward speed ships.
In March 2008, WSDDI came to DNVSoftware again for the Nauticus Hull FEA package. Zhang Xiaoqing Kelvin delivered a four day training course in May. Based on the successful cooperation, WSDDI in July decided to purchase the complete Sesam Floating Structures, including the hydrodynamic and structural analysis package, as well as the mooring and riser package. “We hope and believe that DNV Software will become a significant design and research implement for Wuhan Ship Development and Design Institute,” says Dr Xie Wei, department director at WSDDI.
