Jiangnan Shipyard, one of China’s largest, turned to Nauticus Hull this year to increase its design capability, including the development of new vessel types.

Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd is yet another new and important customer for Nauticus Hull as of this year. DNV Software’s Nauticus product manager Torbjørn Lindemark visited Region Asia Pacific in June, bringing the new release for Nauticus Hull. He gave a thorough demonstration of the functions in this new version.

Jiangnan Shipyard is one of the largest shipyards in China, with a history going back to 1865. Together with the booming development of the shipbuilding industry in recent years, Jiangnan has gained rapid progress not only in production capacity of ships, but also in design and construction competence.

As an implement to increase the capability of design and to develop new types of vessels, the R&D department of Jiangnan has purchased the Nauticus Hull package with three years’ additional maintenance, including Finite Element Analysis and 3D Beam. “Another section of our department had purchased Nauticus Machinery and found it really a great help to our calculation,” says Xiaoling Li, naval architect of Jiangnan R&D. “In addition to the software, we have ordered overseas training in Oslo, which we believe can enhance our real project experiences in using Nauticus Hull.”

Says Torbjørn Lindemark: “DNV Software has rich experience from the shipbuilding industry, and our focus is on enhancing both productivity and quality of ship design and approval work. We would like to develop and keep a good relationship with major Chinese shipyards such as Jiangnan, and we are looking forward to getting some positive feedback on the newly developed features.”
