to reduce our personal environmental footprint
What is WE do?
WE do is a global environmental project that helps people working in DNV limit their personal environmental footprint – which is estimated to be larger or at least comparable to the footprint from DNV’s operations. To achieve this, DNV will partially finance personal environmental measures to its 8,000 employees, irrespective where in the world they are employed. The upper limit is NOK 10,000 per person annually; the employee pays one third of the total amount.

Would you like to do it?
Based on the impact and how well it has been received, we in DNV believe that other companies may want to do something along the same lines. So here we share of our idea. We hope you find some inspiration, ideas and solutions!
Personal commitment
WE do is all about personal commitment. An employee suggested the concept and received commitment and backing from DNV. NOK 40 million has been set aside to finance the project. Employees were then invited to join a forum where they could suggest ideas for actions. Over 500 ideas were posted; half the mployees visited the forum and all employees know about it.
Based on the list of actions, employees can apply via the web for funding of a particular project, and get expenses covered by filling out a regular expense statement which is then approved by their line manager.
Examples that may be supported by the fund are: solar cell panels, diesel filters for older cars, electric cars, enew insulation for buildings, and public transport subsidies.
