What’s new?
New components:

  • Brix Explorer for Nauticus Machinery and Brix Workflow Manager
  • New beta-version of Nauticus Shaft Alignment with new user interface and solver
  • New version of Nauticus Gear Faceload

New features:

  • Improved collaboration between project members using Brix Workflow Manager
  • Multi-user environment and sharing of calculations
  • Tool Library for ‘in-house’ calculation tools which can be embedded in Nauticus Machinery
  • Upload attachments such as shaft drawings, spreadsheets, MathCAD files and more
  • Improved modelling and analysis of shaft alignment models (new bearing models and more)

Nauticus Machinery has been upgraded with multi-user capabilities using clientserver architecture. The new solution is scalable and can be installed as a standalone version on one single computer (using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express) or in a network with multiple users working towards a central database (Microsoft SQL Server). The new solution provides a strongly improved collaboration framework and some modernised calculation tools.

Nauticus Shaft Alignment
The new version contains significant changes to e.g. bearing calculation algorithms. It has so far been released as a beta version, which can run parallel with the 2004 version.

The focus areas for the new version are:

  • A more robust and efficient 2D/3D geometry modeller
  • Operating conditions divided into ‘static’ and ‘dynamic’
  • Unlimited number of operating conditions
  • Full undo/redo features
  • Interaction between graphical model and geometry list
  • More flexible plot/result functions
  • A more advanced report generator
  • Features for parameter studies
  • New algorithms for stern tube bearing pressure/load analysis
  • New algorithms for dynamic alignment (oil film thickness)

The new solver can handle a number of bearing models:

  • Conventional single-support type bearingmodels
  • Multi-support point bearings
  • Single- and double-slope bores for stern tube bearings

The March 2008 release is available on DVD and can be downloaded here

Nauticus Machinery currently includes the following tools:

  • Nauticus Gear Faceload
  • Nauticus Gear Rating
  • Nauticus Shaft Fatigue
  • Nauticus Crankshaft Fatigue
  • Nauticus Shaft Alignment
  • Nauticus Torsional Vibration
