Since the beginning of 2008, Safeti Product Management and Technical Support has been actively participating in a number of strategically important key conferences, presenting papers on a range of topics and exhibiting our portfolio of products and services.
The 8th Professional Development Conference and Exhibition organised by the American Society of Safety Engineers-Middle East Chapter (ASSE-MEC) was held in February in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The theme of the conference was 'Solutions for Regional SH&E Challenges'.
We presented papers on the use of Phast Risk for financial risk analysis and our vision for the next generation architecture for Safeti products currently under development - The Risk Framework. This is the most comprehensive forum on issues within the safety, health and environmental segment for the oil, gas and chemical industries in the Middle East. Leading companies in oil, gas, petrochemical, and other industries supported the event, amongst them a number of valued DNV Software customers including Saudi Aramco, Sabic, BAPCO and DuPont.
In April, DNV Software exhibited jointly with DNV Energy at the Global Process Safety Symposium. Organised annually by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, this year the event was held in New Orleans. It is the premier process safety event in North America, attracting around 500 delegates from all over the world. Most of our largest customers from the Americas were in attendance, including Air Products Dupont and Rhom and Haas, providing us with an invaluable opportunity to update them on the latest developments and get feedback on their highest priority needs.
The following week, we were in Manchester in the UK for the 20th Hazards Symposium organised by the IChemE with a record attendance of more than 300 delegates. The event was jointly sponsored by DNV Software and DNV Energy. The theme of the Symposium this year was 'Process Safety and Environmental Protection - Harnessing Knowledge - Challenging Complacency', attracting many key Safeti customers including BP, Corus, HSE, Ineos, Pfizer, Shell and Total from the UK and BAPCO, US Chemical Safety Board, Petrobras and Sabic from the regions.
