An agreement has been signed between China Special Equipment Inspection & Research Centre (CSEI) and DNV on Orbit Onshore AST.

China, the world's second-largest oil consumer after the United States, has decided to build strategic oil reserve storage tanks in the coming years. Safe management of the tanks is of prime concern to the local government.

“CSEI, a key organisation of the Chinese government and a pioneer in new technology implementation, has the mission to help the government to solve the problem,” says Dr Guodong Jia, director of the Pressure Vessel Department at CSEI. “We hope DNV can join us to provide effective and advanced tools.”

Orbit Onshore AST has a broad range of technologies, including consequence modelling, reliability and failure frequency, analysis and limit-state approaches. It can provide industry with a risk-based method for evaluating and developing inspection plans. “We are glad to make an agreement with CSEI to introduce Orbit Onshore AST to China,” says.
