The major objective of this release is to support Microsoft Vista, which is increasingly used by our customers.
Phast will provide improved functionality for both the consequence and risk configurations. In providing support for Microsoft Vista, a number of our third party components had to be updated. This brings additional benefits provided by the third party developers' own enhancements, as well as our use of some of their new features.
Support for Microsoft Vista requires implementation of the latest version of the FlexLM licensing component, v11.5, resulting in the licensing becoming more user-friendly.
We have also taken the opportunity to provide a licence expiry warning feature, which has frequently been requested over the past couple of years. In addition, we have implemented v6.1 of the GeoMedia GIS Component used for maps, which in itself provides enhanced functionality including:
- Legend anchored in separate pane adjacent to map with items grouped in tabs
- Ability to select groups of objects using polygons as well as rectangles
- Ability to assign name and description to coordinate systems
- Ability to display raster images as translucent and rotate them around a point
We are also testing the new version for compatibility with Microsoft Office 2007 as well as earlier versions.
New features in this release:
- Enhancements to discharge modelling
- Allow in building liquid release to partially evaporate
- Improvements to Warehouse Fire Model
- Addition of 'Plant Boundary' facility for use with free-field method
- Improved Societal and Individual Risk Ranking Reports
- Other general enhancements
We record all enhancement requests and known issues in our incident management system and try to continuously address these, while managing the ever evolving needs communicated to us through our regular global user conferences.
The prioritisation of the development items has been driven by your feedback. We have tried to select the most requested features which we believe can be included in parallel with the key objective of v6.54, support for Microsoft Vista, without extending the time required to deliver this update.
We have recently finalised our plans for v6.6, which will provide significant improvement to the explosion models available for risk calculations. These will be available as an extension to Phast Risk. This is being developed in our next generation architecture, the Risk Framework.
