Safeti incorporates the international industry standard for consequence modelling and is the global market leader for Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) software in the process industry. Accident scenarios are analysed taking local population, land usage and weather conditions into account to quantify the risk associated with the release of hazardous chemicals. In this way major risk contributors are identified and mitigated, thereby avoiding serious accidents.

“The increased demand reflects the industry trend in China towards risk-based assessment methods to avoid or minimise consequences of accidents,” says Øystein Goksøyr, Regional Manager for DNV Software in Greater China. “In order to meet our customers’ needs, we have significantly enhanced our local sales and support organisation. We trust the positive trend for Safeti also represents an increased satisfaction with our products and services among our Chinese users,” continues Goksøyr.

Among customers signing up for Safeti in China during 2007 are:

  • Beijing Chemical Emergency Centre
  • BMT Asia Pacific Limited
  • China Petroleum and Petrochemical Engineering Institute
  • China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Corp.
  • Jiangsu University of Science and Technology
  • Waterborne Transportation Institute
  • China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineer Corporation

In the future, Goksøyr sees three major trends for the Safeti software in China:

  • Increased development focus on requirements from the fast emerging industry
  • Existing users expanding their Safeti accounts to incorporate financial risk assessment of potential accidents
  • An increased market segment for consequence analysis for site-specific emergency planning and redesign.
