New+graphical+Rule+Editor+for+early+design+drawings

One of the important benefits of Nauticus Early Design is the ability to produce classification drawings automatically from the 3D concept model.

The drawings extracted from the model are automatically annotated with the required information based on data not defined specifically in the model, but generated based on attributes and associated rules.

Typical information added as drawing annotations are stiffener end connections and cut-outs as shown in the figure below. In previous versions of Nauticus Early Design, the rules were defined within Visual Basic code. For most end-users this was not the best solution, as any change of rules would be time-consuming and require programming skills.

The new version includes a new graphical Rule Editor which is easily accessible. The solution is based on Brix Rules. A tailor-made graphical user interface for drawings offers a ‘drag and drop’ environment for configuration of the class drawings and drawing content.

The new graphical Rule Editor based on Brix Rules will be available in the Nauticus Early Design workflow template with a planned release of Q3 2007.

Brix Rules
Brix Rules is a software technology that enables end-user products and solutions to offer a new level of customisation in the form of customer-specified rules. This means that the outcome of certain operations are delegated to customer-specified rules of the form ‘if condition then outcome’.Brix Rules enables general-purpose applications to tailor its behaviour according to the way users work. It offers good customisation even in functional areas with great variability in customers’ requirements. Brix Rules is offered as a separate product to software developers for integration in their products and solutions
