The Global Congress on Process Safety is an annual event organised by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). It incorporates the annual conference of the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) and is a key event in the global process safety calendar.
CCPS is a non-profit, corporate membership organisation within AIChE that identifies and addresses process safety needs within the chemical, pharmaceutical, and petroleum industries. CCPS brings together manufacturers, government agencies, consultants, academia and insurers to lead the way in improving industrial process safety.
With over 100 publications to date, CCPS remains at the forefront of safety issues. CCPS and its members develop engineering and management practices to prevent or mitigate catastrophic releases of chemicals, hydrocarbons, and other hazardous materials.
This year’s event was held in Houston, 23–25 April, attracting more than 500 delegates, many of them representing our Safeti customers in the Americas and other regions.
The theme of this year’s symposium was ‘Advancing Process Safety through Design and Operations’. It was the third Global Congress on Process Safety, again combining with the AIChE Spring National Meeting.
The Congress is presented by CCPS and the AIChE Health and Safety Division, and is the largest gathering of process safety professionals in the world. Once again it provided DNV Software and DNV Energy with an excellent opportunity to showcase the latest developments in the Safeti product suite, and to meet many of our customers from North America.
