In order to contribute to the growth of maritime education and to assist the maritime industry in Indonesia, DNV recently donated the Nauticus Hull software to the ITS Surabaya University, Faculty of Marine Technology.

Nauticus Hull is a powerful software package for the design and strength assessment of ship structures. The software comes in different configurations, from basic Rule Check packages to advanced systems for 3D modelling, finite element analysis and hydrodynamic analysis.
“The software training generated a lot of enthusiasm both with the students and local maritime industry representatives. Supporting the local institutes of learning is a mutually beneficial activity for DNV,” says Pawan Sahni, maritime country manager in Indonesia.
Along with the software licenses, a one-day training in the use of the software was also provided free of charge to the university, located in Surabaya, Indonesia.
Says A. Imron, Faculty of Marine Technology, Surabaya: “We want to convey our appreciation for arranging the presentation and one-day training on the Nauticus Hull software in February at ITS, Surabaya.
“The Nauticus Hull software is regarded as leading in the design of ships and floating offshore structures. An opportunity to learn directly from DNV about such software is invaluable.”
Popular event
Some 40 members of the Faculty, students, and local shipyards attended the presentation and training session. Due to the popularity of the event, the dean of the university had to reduce the number of participants to ensure an interactive training session.
“The presentation was a combined effort of DNV Maritime, DNV Technology Services in Indonesia, the maritime service centre in Singapore, and DNV Software in Shanghai,” says Pawan Sahni.
