"How do we preserve and consolidate our corporate knowledge at a time when industry is continually changing and becoming leaner, and how do we set about achieving better standards in the future?"

This was the key message of the conference, fitting well with DNV Software's 'Best Engineering Practice' concept and one of the major motivators for developing the Safeti Financial extension to our industry standard QRA software suite, Safeti.

DNV Software took the opportunity to profile Phast Financial and Safeti Financial to the UK market, following the launch at the American Society of Safety Engineers conference in Bahrain on 20th March. Both programs are based on risk technology available in DNV Software's Safeti tool. Some simple extensions to the classical approach to QRA, focusing on risk to life, enables the broader risks associated with process plant operations to be assessed in financial terms.

A paper entitled 'Modelling the consequences of hazardous multi-component two-phase releases to the atmosphere' was given at the event by DNV Software's Henk Witlox. DNV Consulting's John Spouge also attended to present his paper entitled 'Leak frequencies from the hydrocarbon release database'.

The symposium continued the long history of success for this event, with more than 280 delegates and, yet again, proved its importance for the DNV Software's risk products in the vital UK market.
