Keppel Offshore & Marine, one of the world’s largest offshore and marine groups, has chosen Sesam GeniE software to aid their calculations on offshore-related projects. The software will be implemented by yards under the group, as well as the engineering offices located in Bulgaria, China and India.

The primary focus area of GeniE is aimed at engineering of frame structures employing concept modelling techniques. It closely interacts with all relevant modules in Sesam, which is the market-leading software for design of floating offshore installations.

GeniE has been recently updated to include modelling of complex curved structures such as semi-submersibles and ships.

“Keppel chose the Sesam GeniE software for its user-friendliness, technical reliability as well as cost-effectiveness,” says Paul Liang, section manager for the engineering division at Keppel O&M. “It is especially useful in offshore structures analysis, as the model generated from GeniE can be integrated with Sesam and imported/exported to their structural programs.”

With GeniE, DNV Software is aiming to secure a solid market position in the jacket and topside segment. “We believe that the market has trust in DNV Software as a provider of quality software and an excellent standard of technical support,” says Tore Selsø, DNV Software’s area sales manager. “The fact that DNV Software is part of DNV is also of importance; the DNV brand has a very high standing. This agreement has a significant role for our future plans to extend our business in the region.”
