Orbit Onshore is a Risk Based Inspection (RBI) tool to minimise inspection costs whilst improving safety by concentrating on highest-risk equipment. We are pleased to announce the release of a new and improved version of Orbit Onshore. The new release, version 2.4.20, was completed in November 2005. The French version, 2.5.7, is due to be concluded in January. The release contains updates to a number of areas, particularly:

Pressure Relief Valve Model
The pressure relief valve (PRV) model has been reviewed and significantly improved. The model behaves in a similar manner to the latest API PRD model and is more intuitive than the previous versions.

Likelihood Modifying Factors
Version 2.4.19 included a partial upgrade to provide compliance with French legislative requirements. This has been extended in version 2.4.20; you can use a complete system for compliance with French legislation. The likelihood modifying factors can be input via a form view, and several new effective damage factors have been created based on these factors. This provides you with yet another option in setting inspection targets.

Chemical Data Synchronisation
This new feature automatically synchronises your chemical data when you upgrade your version of Orbit Onshore. It will add missing chemicals to your existing repository and replace chemical data for chemicals that have been updated in the latest version.

Equipment Summary Sheet Navigation
Several new features have been added which will allow you to more easily navigate the equipment summary sheet. There is now a search facility to find a specific equipment ID, and a sort facility that lets you organise equipment items using up to four fields.

More details on the updates included in this release can be found in the notes accompanying the software.
