When moving into deep waters, traditional computational methods for predicting the global response of floating production facilities may no longer prove adequate. In deep water, the riser and mooring line dynamics of floating units begin to have a significant influence on the motions of the vessels.
![]() | Sesam DeepC is an application for deepwater floating systems, providing modeling, analysis and post-processing capabilities. The program has been available in the market for three years during which we have gained practical experience and seen potential for usage beyond the original scope. Since the launch of DeepC, the product team has been busy adding new and improving existing functionality. The team has worked close with key users and DNV Software is proud to present DeepC v.3.0, launched in June 2005. |
Some of the new features included
- Fatigue and single riser analysis
- Fatigue of metallic risers
- Code checking of risers according to DNV-OS-F201 codes
- Execution of multiple analyses, including execution in batch
- In addition we have enhanced some key existing features
A part of the launch was a promotional training course that took place 15–16 September in Houston. The two-day training had two purposes:
- To introduce existing users to the new and improved DeepC version
- To market the application to potential new customers
A total of 16 participants from eight companies attended the course, one third being existing users and the rest having no earlier experience with DeepC. The new version of DeepC was well received by the participants. During the open discussion at the end of the course, the participants agreed that the ease of use has improved and DeepC now has some unique new features. The users also gave DNV Software some good suggestions for further improvements.
