The wrong combination of individually satisfactory components may lead to an inappropriate system. Nauticus Torsional Vibration is a software tool that analyses the torsional vibration levels in the propulsion system and identifies critical components.

The new Nauticus Torsional Vibration tool gives you the following new features:

  • New graphical user interface with fast and efficient modelling options
  • Component libraries
  • Acceptance criteria check (IACS M68 and more)
  • Advanced viewing and reporting facilities
  • The software is not limited to only diesel engine plants, as it can be applied on various kinds of systems such as gas turbine or electric motor systems
  • New equation solver based on LAPACK library
  • No practical limitation with regards to number of masses or shafts
  • Developed in close cooperation with DNV Maritime, with its know-how and experience on marine propulsion systems.

The general scope of each release includes:

  • 1st release: Direct driven propulsion plants with propeller
  • 2nd release: Generator sets with or without elastic couplings
  • 3rd release: Single stage geared propulsion plants.
This release will be available in January
    2006.

The application will be enhanced with analysis of multi-branched propulsion systems during 1st quarter 2006 and will gradually replace DNV’s PILOT nV5235 application.
