Next+generation+solutions+ready+for+the+market

Ever since DNV had its first computer installed back in 1956, DNV’s software people have focused on the interaction between state-of-the-art applications and useful work processes. Business process redesign, business network redesign and business scope redefinition are no longer just buzz-words, but essential for remaining competitive. It is evident that integration of state-of-the-art ICT systems and people will only be successful if we are able to monitor and control the processes going on between them.

Over time, technical software investments often result in safe-guarding engineering knowledge, thus forming an important part of a company’s strategy. Until the end of the 1990s, most software applications were designed with no consideration to integration with other systems. The next generation of IT systems has been assembled from scratch with the aim of minimising integration costs and enabling companies to utilise existing legacy systems.

The prevailing DNV Software strategy was initiated in year 2000 with a plan for the next five years. In essence, it was communicated as a brief story:

Today (year 2000), when people think about DNV Software, they think of the software we deliver: Sesam, Nauticus, Phast and other well-known solutions.

Tomorrow, when people think about DNV Software, they will think of state-of-the-art software services melted into workflow solutions. They will think of solutions offering an enhanced environment for good business performance, quality control and continuous learning within the organisation.

After five years of development and a significant number of man-years invested, DNV Software is pleased to announce BrixÒ Explorer as the preferred container for all solutions and products. BrixÒ Explorer is the enabling 'wrapper’ for all DNV Software’s loosely coupled solutions, integrating well-known applications such as Sesam, Nauticus and Orbit+. DNV Software’s latest BrixÒ innovation enables companies to ‘fight’ hidden costs more efficient than ever before.

BrixÒ Explorer will replace both the Sesam Manager and the Nauticus Project Manager. As a browser, BrixÒ Explorer has the capacity to host a multitude of rather different software products delivered by DNV Software, 3rd party vendors and our customers in-house solutions. With BrixÒ Explorer’s well-defined work processes, controlled applications and services can be managed by one active single template, thus offering a complete multi-user environment with distinct roles. This concept, using a single active template, has been branded ‘Best Engineering Practice’.

With the concept of Best Engineering Practice, DNV Software has enabled its customers to identify and address performance bottlenecks, whilst reusing company best practices, without requiring huge software investment. By focusing on ‘how to work’ the BrixÒ system, customers will have a means of transforming their existing company IT infrastructure into modern enterprise architectures.
