DSME’s objective is to explore the concept of Best Engineering Practice supported by BrixÒ Workflow Manager covering the engineering work at marketing design, basic structural design and vibration free design and analysis. The total number of initial users that will access the solution will be in the order of 200. To accommodate this, DSME has acquired a site licence for BrixÒ Workflow. The solutions covering the three work processes will be elivered during the first half of 2006. During 2006 there is a potential of expanding the solution to further cover the work processes for hull form basic design, machinery outfitting design and structural research and development.

Says Ketil Aamnes, Global Sales and Marketing Director, DNV Software “According to DSME, one of the reasons for choosing our BrixÒ technology is that DNV Software is well known to DSME as a competent software supplier. Additionally, BrixÒ offers a flexible environment for integrating their existing in-house applications. At the same time it provides an efficient environment for engineering collaboration.”

The project with DSME has already had positive consequences for DNV Software in Korea through the signing of another Best Engineering Practice project with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). SHI and DNV Software will conduct a pilot study together to investigate the feasibility of the BRIX Workflow Managercovering Samsung’s Best Engineering Practices
