As part of its strategy for providing best possible service to its customers in all markets, DNV Software’s Region Europe, Middle East and Africa has decided to open a sales office in Marseille, France, focusing mainly on software sales and support but also providing a local point of contact.

DNV Software is moving closer to the European market, aiming to provide better support to our French customers.
As France is an important hub for the offshore, marine and process industries, mainly for Europe and West Africa, DNV Software has decided that a local presence is necessary. The new sales office, officially opened on 1 September, will enable DNV Software to establish closer relationships with all its French and North African customers.
From a strategic standpoint, having a local presence in France makes it much easier for DNV Software to reach other
expanding markets within Europe and Africa and to react more immediately to market needs and customer requests.
Another important advantage of having a local presence is the fact that France has a dominant role when it comes to offshore activities on the west coast of Africa.
Says Alex Aarvik, Sales Manager for the new office, “I am confident that we can help the French offshore market to effectively optimise their work and also lower production and operational costs by using our Sesam software suite when it comes to analysis, design and construction within the offshore and marine sector. Sesam is recognised as the most comprehensive software system for structural and hydrodynamic analysis available to the offshore and marine industries. I am also quite sure we can expand further and help the French process industries with our well
proven Risk Management software tools.”
Alex has been at DNV Software’s head office in Høvik for the past three years; he has been particularly active in growing the customer base for the Nauticus Machinery Calculation Package (NMCP) product suite. NMCP includes a number of products developed by DNV Software for marine propulsion design and analysis.
From 1 September he has been operating from the DNV office in Marseille. With a background in shipping and brokerage in Paris as well as international sales experience of commercial and technical shipping software, Alex is the ideal candidate to grow the DNV Software business in the French-speaking market. He also has broad experience with international marketing and speaks Norwegian, English, French and Spanish fluently.
“I am really looking forward to working closely with the market, developing it and having easier access to our customers in the region. I believe that becoming the customers’ preferred partner is best achieved through regular close contact and openness to customers’ needs and requirements – both of which are much easier to achieve by being ‘local’.
“Secondly, from a personal view, I feel privileged to be able to live in such a great country with their ‘savoir vivre’ and their well known culinary skills,” adds Alex.
