Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC), founded in 1950, is the largest and most comprehensive ship and offshore structure research, development, design and engineering organisation in China.

Wasim is a hydrodynamic program for computing global responses and local loading on vessels moving at any forward speed. It can also be used as a tool for providing guidance to a master at sea in selecting optimum speed and heading for ship operation.

With increasing demand for very large container vessels, more and more research and development in this area is carried out by design companies and shipyards in China. The addition of MARIC to the growing list of Wasim customers is yet another indication that Wasim is the preferred solution for hydrodynamic analysis of large container vessels. DNV Software is working closely with MARIC, delivering state-of-the-art software and comprehensive technical support for their ongoing container vessel development program.

From 28 to 30 June 2005, a very productive three-day Wasim training course was delivered at MARIC’s Shanghai facility by Dr Torgeir K. Vada, hydrodynamic specialist from DNV Software’s head office, with twelve of MARIC’s engineers participating.
