From 4 to 5 April, DNV Software facilitated one of its largest private Phast courses to date, after Sunoco, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, requested a Phast course for 15 of its employees.

Sunoco has been operating since 1886 and is a leading manufacturer and distributor of petroleum and petrochemical products. It operates five domestic refineries with 900,000 barrels per day of crude oil processing capacity and is one of the largest independent refiner-marketers in the United States. Sunoco is a significant manufacturer of petrochemicals with annual sales of approximately five billion pounds, largely chemical intermediates used to make fibres, plastics, film, and resins. In 1993, Sunoco was the first Fortune 500 company to endorse an environmental
code of conduct called the CERES Principles (the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies), a commitment to make continuous improvement in health, environmental and safety performance.
Sunoco has been a Phast licence holder for over 15 years; during this time it has extended its use through many facilities. The attendees came from various sites within the company’s plants located in the East Coast and Midwest areas of the United States. The group involved in the training came from various backgrounds; some were being introduced to the software for the first time and its use within the company, others were proficient users who attended to update their knowledge on the newer features within the software.
