IMO Vega 10.0 is a powerful database containing IMO (International Maritime Organization) requirements. It has advanced search features helping users to quickly locate relevant information. DNV Software has together with the DNV Rules Secretariat and IMO been working on developing a new and improved version of IMO Vega.

"IMO-Vega is a helpful tool when searching within the complexity of the IMO requirements. The improved user interface and powerful search engine makes it easy to find relevant IMO regulations and circulars applicable for given trades or ship types," says Aubrey Botsford, Head of the IMO Publishing Service
Based on customer feedback from the previous versions, the new version has a number of enhancements allowing users to find information fast and easy. The new version is built on Microsoft.NET technology with user-friendliness and speed as the main focus. An intuitive user interface makes it easy for users to retrieve IMO documents applicable to the vessel in question. It is also possible to search for historical documents.
"The interactive development process undertaken with DNV Software has resulted in a product that fully meets our expectations. Their professionalism and software development is first class. We look forward to further collaboration," says Kåre Lindemann, Head of Rules Secretariat.
IMO Vega 10.0 is a must-have product for anyone involved in shipping. Ships in international trade have to act in accordance with more and more complex requirements. IMO Vega 10.0 makes the navigation thru these requirements easier. The documents in the database are available thru a web-like hierarchical directory structure. This structure is carefully organized based on customer feedback and in depth knowledge about the database content giving users a helpful tool when searching for documents. The new search engine supports search parameters such as Ship Type, Date of Build, No. of Passengers, Certificate, Length, Cargo, Gross Tonnage, Topic, Deadweight and Trade. It also includes a web-like freetext search giving users a lot of flexibility on specifying their search.
In addition to important international conventions and codes, the database also includes interpretations made by the DNV Rules Secretariat. Every document is categorized and annotated by hand resulting in improved searching and added value for the customer.
"We strived for a more intuitive user interface than in version 9, by using well proven elements from modern Windows application design, as well as user friendly web sites like Google.com. It is our hope that it will enable IMO Vega users to be more efficient in their work, and that relevant information does not elude them due to misconceptions introduced by the software," says Geir Sørensen, IMO Vega 10.0 Software Designer.
The IMO Vega 10.0 database includes:
IMO publications related safe operation of ships such as SOLAS, MARPOL, Load Line, Tonnage (TMC) 1969, STCW and other IMO conventions, codes, resolutions and circulars.
