DNV Software’s new office was officially opened on 1 March and is located at Det Norske Veritas’ office buildings at Hong Qiao Road in Shanghai. “As a consequence of the recent years’ growth, many of DNV Software’s key customers
are now located in China. The main objectives for establishing the Shanghai office are to further enhance our customer support while increasing our business in China,” says Goksøyr. “I am really looking forward to working
closely with the market and having frequent contact with our customers in the region. Our goal is to become the customer’s first choice. This can only be achieved through close contact with the market and openness to customers’
needs and requirements.”

Øystein Goksøyr, Regional Manager for DNV Software Greater China, is the former Head of Business development in DNV Software. He has held a number of positions in DNV for 11 years, four of which were in Pusan, Korea. Øystein took up his new position on 1 January and is located in Shanghai as of 1 March.

Zhang Zhi Ping Stone is DNV Software’s newly employed Sales and Support Engineer in Shanghai. Zhang graduated from Harbin Engineering University in April 2005 with a Doctoral Degree in structural strength of marine and offshore structures.

It is well known that this region plays a dominant role in world shipbuilding industry, and a very large part of DNV Software’s customer base in this market segment are found here. But there are also opportunities in the offshore and process markets. China is an oil-producing nation, and Goksøyr has ambitions to seek synergies in the region between DNV Software’s product lines for the marine, offshore and process industries.

“The feedback from our Chinese customers is clear. They want local support in Mandarin language,” says Goksøyr. He is therefore pleased to welcome the first local employee, Zhang Zhi Ping, who is already in place at the Shanghai
office. “The plans are to hire one or two more locals during 2005. We encourage our present and prospective customers to visit us in our new office or contact us by telephone or e-mail for local support.

“Our ambitions for China are to deliver software solutions enabling companies to improve engineering quality and productivity, and thereby lower production and operational costs,” ends Goksøyr.
