Established in 2000, the Primalux vision is to provide engineering industries with integrated, innovative and cost-effective computer solutions. The software house specialises in computerised engineering asset solutions for the oil, gas and process industries. Acquired by DNV in January this year, its 17 software developers, now a part of DNV Software Greater China, are working to further enhance and support the EAMS product under the guidance of Managing Director Alice Feng.

A DNV asset
“The acquisition of Primalux fits nicely with DNV Software’s strategy and plans for growth in China. The Primalux EAM system is a dual language software suite that supports both English and Chinese Mandarin as well as any local language. The employees read and speak fluent Mandarin, the official language of China. This strengthens the opportunities to introduce other DNV Software products in this market,” says Elling Rishoff, Managing Director of DNV Software.

The acquisition was a collaboration between two DNV business areas; DNV Software and DNV Technology Services (DNV TS). The close co-operation will continue, with Primalux becoming a part of DNV Software Greater China and the integration of the EAM system into DNV Software’s suite, while DNV TS will promote and sell the software as part of their Asset Integrity Management Services. “We are partners in this,” says Øystein Goksøyr, Regional Manager Greater China, “and we will work together with DNV Technology Services on sales and support in order to provide the best possible service to our customers.”

Comprehensive program suite
Orbit+ is a comprehensive software suite aimed at filling the gap between the needs of a plant operator and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The software suite provides a full Asset Integrity Management System (AIMS) consisting of modules to support asset and document management, inspection data management and maintenance management. It includes integration with the DNV Software Orbit suite of programs as well as interface to SAP, Maximo and other ERP systems.

The new Orbit+ suite can also serve as a cost-efficient starting point for customised onshore pipeline inspection and follow-up, as well as being an effective addition to DNV Software’s existing AIMS solutions for the offshore structure market.

First customer
The first sale of the Orbit+ software suite to a major client has already been completed. “The first customer is none other than the Kuwait Oil Company. They have invested in the Orbit+ Inspection Database System, and the implementation work is already underway. We are very pleased with this development,” says Goksøyr. Further sales efforts will be targeting the oil, gas, and process markets in the Asia Pacific region, Europe and the US later this year. “This will continue to be a joint effort by DNV Technology Services and DNV Software,” says Goksøyr.
