Neptune offers flexible modelling of hazards and risks through a wide range of analytic capabilities including consequence modelling, event tree modelling, leak frequency calculations, sensitivity and what-if analysis. This provides powerful life-cycle decision support.

Neptune contains models tailored for risk analysis of offshore and onshore industrial installations.
Neptune provides you with a flexible and intuitive environment for performing analyses by offering 62 fixed calculation models which can be linked together in any appropriate combination to build up an analysis. In addition to the calculation models, there are a number of user programmable models and utility models which can be used for data manipulation and results reporting.
Neptune’s architecture has been designed to give you maximum flexibility when designing and working on studies. Special attention has been given to allow you to incorporate new models and customize your study to enable a more effective work process.
Neptune is based on a very simple concept; data flows from one model to another model along specified paths. Data is input only once, and if a change is made anywhere within the study this will be carried along the specified paths and affect the rest of the study. This allows you to easily analyse various decision scenarios.
Neptune contains models tailored for risk analysis of offshore and onshore industrial installations. These include:
- Discharge and dispersion models, including DNV's proprietary Unified Dispersion Model (UDM).
- Flammable models, including resulting radiation effects, for jet fires, pool fires and BLEVEs.
- Models designed for the specific needs of offshore installations, such as smoke generation, endangerment of muster areas, collision with ships, and many more.
- A leak frequency generation model.
- An event tree model.
Benefits:
- Quality: structured analysis ensures consistency and traceability. Provides auditable data tracking.
- Flexibility: Modular approach applicable to simple and complex analyses.
- Integration: Integration with Microsoft Excel allows user programmable equations and macros. Integrated with new user models.
- Efficiency: Easy creation of templates and reuse of data structures saves time.
- Modelling: Contains world-leading dispersion model, the Unified Dispersion Model also used in Phast. Offshore specific models are also provided.
- A DIPPR™ database of over 1500 chemicals.
