With multi-user functionality and a powerful workflow engine the system enables ship designers to perform contract and classification design in a fast and efficient way.

The system combines state-of-the-art technologies developed by DNV Software and Intergraph Process, Power and Marine (PPM)™. The most powerful functions for 3D modelling and drawing generation are integrated with the well established analysis capabilities of Nauticus Hull for class rules check and finite element analysis.

Nauticus Early Design is based on an open architecture and integrates well with other packages for hull fairing and various naval architect calculations.

Data centric and rule driven
Nauticus Early Design is based on IntelliShip™, a new and powerful database driven ship information system. The common 3D concept modeller, Molded Froms, allows for fast and accurate definition and communication of ship hull and internal structure. Decks, bulkheads, plates and stiffernes are linked together by a very robust associative data model. This allows for easy modification and update of ship structures which is required in the iterative process of novel ship design. The same structural relationship qualitites play an important role in the design and modifications of previous ship designs.

The object driven database is multi-user and multi-disciplined and gives the ability to instantly share data among project members across the design disiplines.

The system's advanced Rule Engine allows knowledge based engineering, a high degree of automation and elimination of repetitive modelling tasks which contributes to shortened lead time and increased quality of the design.
