DNV Software held a two day open training course in Shanghai and a one day seminar at the Nor-Shipping exhibition in Oslo in connection with the upcoming Nauticus Machinery summer release.
During the two events DNV Software had the opportunity to showcase the latest features in the calculation package and get valuable feedback from the industry with hands-on workshops and tutorials related to the upcoming release. The events gathered a mix of experienced and new users.
From June 8 to 9, DNV Software organized an open training course for Nauticus Machinery in the DNV Shanghai Office. It was attended by 21 participants comprising representatives from engine builders, design houses and shipyards in China. Half of the participants were potential new users of the Nauticus Machinery calculation package from DNV Software.
The main focus of the training was on tutorials and a hands-on workshop on the new release. The next release of Nauticus Machinery - supporting Window 7 (64-bit) - will bring an integrated calculation environment for Torsional Vibrations, Crankshaft Fatigue, Shaft Fatigue, Shaft Alignment, Gear Faceload and Gear Rating, in which the first three tools are totally re-designed.
The new Nauticus Machinery release will have several key features. These include: uniformed interface for all calculation tools; brand-new designed Torsional Vibration, Shaft Fatigue and Crankshaft Fatigue; updates on Shaft Alignment, Gear Faceload and Gear Rating; and an additional three new rule-based utility tools.

Xun Sun, Chief Engineer of Hudong Heavy Machinery, was impressed by the new features “This year’s open training course definitely keeps all Nauticus Machinery users tuned with handy tutorials for the new Nauticus Machinery release,” he said.
DNV Software Shanghai will organize similar training events on an annual basis. In addition to this, seminars, user conferences and webinars will also be available later this year.

DNV Software and DNV Technical Advisory Ship and Offshore also hosted a one day seminar at the Nor-Shipping exhibition in Norway on May 26. More than 20 participants from European ship yards and engine builders attended the seminar. The seminar focused mainly on vibrations problems in marine propulsion systems and how you can utilize the new Nauticus Torsional Vibration tool to solve vibration related problems at the design or operational stage.
