Phast+advanced+modelling+reaches+Beijing

Increased knowledge of the modelling capabilites within the software was the outcome for 25 Phast and Phast Risk users attending the Phast advanced modelling course in Beijing from 1-4 June. This was the first advanced Phast Risk course to be held in China, and the participants were key customers from SINOPEC, CNPC and CNOOC.

The Phast advanced modelling course was delivered by Henk Witlox, Senior Principal modeler from the DNV Software London office. The four days of training helped the participants to understand both the theoretical and practical aspects of the full range of modeling capabilities available in Phast and Phast Risk. The modelling groups discussed included discharge, dispersion, flammable effects as well as risk. For each model the participants could learn more on the meaning of the model input and the interpretation and understanding of the model output (graphs and reports).

The training was very well received by the attendees giving us valuable comments and feedback. Phast Risk as a Quantitative Risk Assessment tool has been used by Sinopec Engineering Incorporation (SEI) for more than ten years. “We are eager to learn more about the models in Safeti. After the course, we have more knowledge about the capabilities and limitations of each model, along with detailed description of the controlling parameters, which will be very useful for our actual projects" said Mr. Sun Chenglong, a senior Phast user. Another participant, Mr. Chen Ren, Air Liquid, Hangzhou expressed his content hoping to come back, “The training was very helpful. I hope to attend more of DNV’s training in the future.”
