Phast v6.53.1 content
There are no modelling enhancements or new features in v6.53.1 compared to v6.53.

The main differences between Phast v6.53.1 and v6.53 are summarised below:

  • A correction has been made to the pipe discharge modelling used in the Pipe Rupture, Relief Valve and Disc Rupture release scenarios, and the calculated discharge results may change for certain types of storage scenario and release phase. The problem was discovered using the new Multi-Component Vessel model where the storage phase was two-phase and the release phase liquid. The calculated flow rate was too low because of the error in the mass flow rate capping logic. The normal vessel model was also affected when using atmospheric storage conditions where the flow rate is capped to zero and this is clearly reported as an error. Both of these problems have been resolved.

  • Three issues associated with the behaviour of spreadsheet inputs were identified and have been corrected as follows:

    - Release locations being rounded during the transfer of input data from the spreadsheet to the program
    - Burst pressure value not transferred to model when used in fireball calculations

    - Program could crash during spreadsheet input if the Map window was open at the time of the input.

  • Erroneous behaviour of some of the Caselist functionality in v6.53 has been fixed:

    - The edit fields for variable groups, except for the discharge group, were disabled in the Caselist dialog in v6.53 so you could not define different values for the cases in the Caselist.

    - In v6.53, the last case in the list was not handled properly inside the Caselist dialog. If you tried to change the values for the case, the changed values would generally not be saved, and if you clicked once on the Add button inside the Caselist dialog, a new case would not be added; instead the values for the last case would be changed to those for the second-to-last case.

    - The Notes button in the Caselist dialog, in v6.53, did not allow you to add or edit a note for the Caselist.

  • Several corrections have been made to the graphs and reports in v6.53.1:

    - The performance of the Report Window has been improved and long reports such as the Long Pipeline Report and the Pool Vaporisation Report are loaded more quickly into the window.

    - In v6.53, if a jet fire impinged on the ground and was truncated, the Radiation vs. Distance results were not reported in the Jet Fire Report, although they did appear in the Graphs.

    - The name of the released material was not shown in the Long Pipeline Report in v6.53.

    - If the “exposure time” option was selected as the toxic averaging time method in v6.53, the legend for the graphs did not give the averaging time for toxic releases as “Exposure”, but instead gave the time as the fixed toxic averaging time set in the Toxic Parameters. These have all been fixed in v6.53.1.

Microsoft Vista
Please note that Phast v6.53.1 will not support Microsoft Vista. However, we are currently working on Phast v6.54 which will support Vista as well as providing a number of other enhancements, the scope of which is still being finalised. This is scheduled for release in summer 2008.
