With this release of Brix Explorer – Sesam Configuration version 3.0-10, DNV Software has included important new features as possibilities of exporting analyses and projects between users and a simpler and more intuitive user interface.
Extensive documentation features have been added making a project/analysis more understandable. Jobs and templates may be deleted from the Workflow database and database administration is simplified by ‘Backup’ and ‘Restore’ functionality.
These and many more new features and improvements are described in detail in the User Manual. After you have upgraded the software the new manual is available from the Documentation tool of the Brix Explorer window. From the Documentation tool you also have access to documentation of all Sesam software along with release notes of all official versions of the Brix Explorer – Sesam Configuration including 3.0-10.
New features
The new features are described in the updated BriX Explorer – Sesam Configuration user manual – this is part of the installation and you will find it as described above.

The new features may be summarized as follows:
- Brix Explorer enhancements
- Administration->Templates tool has got a ‘Delete template’ functionality
- ‘Backup and Restore of database’ functionality is introduced in the Administration->Database tool.
- ‘Create Job From File’ functionality introduced in Workflow tool
Either XML (Job template) or ZIP (including Job template + files) file may be selected.
‘Create job from XML’ functions as ‘Create Job’, i.e. file references may have to be updated manually updated.
When ‘Create job from ZIP’ is selected the complete job with files and references is automatically established.
- Sesam Job icon introduced – visible in ‘Ongoing Jobs’ tool and in header of Job Explorer window - All controllers
- Introduced the simplified GUI for all controllers. The ‘old’ GUI is opened by the ‘Show Advanced’ button. Note that the simplified GUI contains features for selecting/editing Command Input File, view Output Files, View Files…, View Attachments… and toggling Database Status New/Old. - Documentation features
- Attachment tab introduced in Job Setup activity and all controllers. Any document can be added and will appear as a link in the table. For help structuring the information the document may be given a type (other than General) and a description. The table also has ‘Date Modified’ information.
- Documentation tab in Job Setup activity with behavior similar to the Sesam->Documentation tool in the Brix Explorer window. By pushing the ‘Update Documentation List’ button a folder containing Job documentation may be selected. This folder and possible subfolders must contain documentation as pdf-files.
- The Activity Group template has got a ‘Update Documentation’ button from where a html-file containing a description of the activity may be selected. - Job Setup activity
- Setup tab changed name to Configuration
- A ‘Reset file references’ button is included in Configuration tab.
- The default editor setting is introduced in Configuration tab.
- ‘License-wait’ option introduced for each application in Application tab
- Global change of program paths in Application tab - Export to ZIP
- New option in Export is introduced with two specializations; ‘All files’ or ‘Command input files’.
- In both cases a Job template (XML file) is automatically generated and the ZIP file is stored on Job root.
- ‘All files’ zips the Job template and all files on and below Job root.
- ‘Command input files’ zips the Job template and all command input files on and below Job root - GeniE, HydroD and DeepC controllers
- Database units supported
- ‘Reuse database’ option - A new user manual

How to install
When upgrading the old data of the Workflow database is kept. The new version 3.0-10 of the Brix Explorer – Sesam Configuration will run on the same database without any further actions.
For users with a valid maintenance contract you can install the program by downloading the installation script here.
The script “setup.exe” is complete and contains an updated set of Sesam software documentation as well. During the installation you may select the Brix Workspace folder that will serve as the default root folder of your jobs.
As long as your current installation is version 2.0-04 there is no need to un-install your Brix Explorer – Sesam Configuration version prior to installing version 3.0-10. Otherwise un-installation is recommended.
