DNV Software is releasing a new multi-user version of Nauticus Machinery with new versions of the Nauticus Shaft Alignment and Nauticus Gear Faceload distribution calculation tools.

New calculation framework – Brix Explorer for Nauticus Machinery
The new release greatly improves the way you can collaborate and share information in design projects related to propulsion machinery. In addition you will find new versions of some of the calculation tools as well as bug fixes and enhancements in the existing tools.
New features for the calculation framework:
- Scalable solution for one single user to multiple users
- Integration with latest Brix Explorer and Workflow Manager from DNV Software
- Calculations are organised in “jobs”
- Several users can work on the same job simultaneously
- One common repository for all calculation related information
- Easy to integrate in-house calculations such as spreadsheets or other file types
- Easy to integrate calculation drawings, scanned hand calculations and attachments
New beta-version of Nauticus Shaft Alignment
Nauticus Shaft Alignment is going through a total redesign in 2007-2009, both with respect to the graphical user interface and the equation solver. Later this year we plan to release a finite element solver (Sestra) as an add-on to the existing solver. The new solver introduces major changes in the way bearing reaction forces and shaft deflection inside a bearing are analyzed, you will be able to run the new beta-version and the 2004-version in parallel. This makes it easier to compare new- and old models for a limited period of time.
The beta-version contains a more robust shaft geometry modeller which you can view both in 2D and 3D. We have implemented a new multi-support-point bearing model and it is possible to analyse both single- and double slope bored (stern tube) bearings. There is no limitation to the number of operating conditions anymore, and each condition is categorized as a static- or dynamic condition. A utility tool for conversion of old model files (2004 version) into the new Nauticus Shaft Alignment format is a part of the installation. The current 2004-interface will be replaced later this year.

New version of Nauticus Gear Faceload
Nauticus Gear Faceload has got a more modern user-interface and we have also done improvements to the chart-controls and reporting. The new version is fully embedded into to Brix Explorer and Brix Workflow Manager. A utility tool for conversion of old input files into the new gear faceload format is a part of the installation.
Updates to existing calculation tools
All the existing calculation tools have been subjected to a number of bug fixes and improvements. More details can be found in the release note for Nauticus Machinery 2008.
