During recent months, we have seen an increasing number of French customers requesting Safeti training, ranging from introductory Phast product training to advanced modelling training.

Over this period Pascal Le Gal, Safeti Product Manager in DNV Software’s London office, together with Alex Aarvik, our Regional Sales Manager in France, has been improving the range of training we offer to French-speaking customers.
Pascal has been very active in this market, holding a number of on-site standard and advanced Phast training classes in 2006 and 2007. Previously these were held in France, but with Pascal’s multi-lingual skills we are now able to hold them in French on site, in response to customer requests. In addition, we are able to adopt a more flexible approach by customising these on-site training courses where necessary, as customers often request a combination of standard and advanced topics. We have also been able to include customised case studies more relevant to clients’ specific requirements.
In response to an increasing demand following last year’s success, Pascal organised a French public Phast training course at Le Meridien Hotel in Paris in March 2007. The final number was 18 participants, the maximum capacity for the venue. Yaritza Foucaud, who speaks French fluently and recently joined the Safeti Product Marketing Team in the London office as a support engineer, assisted Pascal. Due to popular demand for public training, a second session, with a similar format, has already been organized and will take place in Paris in July 2007 (at Le Meridien Hotel). Given the oversubscription for the first course no invitations have been sent but there are still a few places available. A third session will take place in Paris or Lyon later on this year.

“We are very encouraged by the demand for Phast training so far this year in France,” says Nic Cavanagh, Head of Safeti Product Marketing. “This is a result of our success in the market during 2006, and Phast’s position as the leading tool for Hazard Analysis as recommended by the DRIRE (Directions Régionales de l’Industrie, de la Recherche et de l’Environnement) for use in environmental impact assessment.”
The following onsite training courses were delivered in 2006 and 2007:
- 3-day Phast training (2-day standard training and 1-day advanced training) at Ligeron SA a division of Sonovision-ITEP, in Saint-Aubin, outside Paris, September 2006, September 2006, 7 participants.
- 4-day Phast training (2-day standard training and 2-day advanced training) at Sanofi Aventis, in Neuville-sur-Saone, outside Lyon, September 2006, 4 participants.

- 2-day Phast training at Sanofi Aventis in Aramon, in the Provence region, January 2007, 8 participants. This particular training course was the second delivered for Sanofi Aventis, one of the leading organisations operating in the process industry in France, and was the direct result of recommendations by trainees from the previous Sanofi Aventis training course given at their Neuville-sur-Saone site in December 2006.
- 2-day Advanced Phast training at Sofconseil, in Paris, April 2007, 9 participants.
