Whilst the standard product training focuses on introducing users to the basic software functionality, the Safeti QRA training builds on this, giving attendees a better understanding of how to use the software in practice. During the course delegates learn how to use the software when building a full QRA or developing a study for hazardous screening.

Accompanied by Kevin Sun, DNV Softwares Safeti Sales and Support Engineer from Shanghai, the delegation received 4 days intensive training on the use of Safeti when performing QRA. The training was delivered by Dr Nic Cavanagh, Head of Safeti Product Marketing, and Colin Hickey, Product Manager in the Safeti Product Marketing Team. The course provides guidance on how to develop a QRA for a hazardous facility from scratch using the applications available in the Safeti Product suite as and when appropriate. The major component of the training focuses on developing a QRA for a simple plant using the PhastRisk application. It also gives guidance on using other techniques, like Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and HAZOP, as well as introducing the other applications in the Safeti suite supporting these techniques like RiskSpectrum for FTA and Leak for failure frequency development.

“The course was well received by the attendees and we received extremely positive feedback. We look forward to meeting again when we hold our User Conference in Shanghai in the Autumn, to find out more about how the delegates have been using the software to help solve their own problems”, says Nic Cavanagh. On the penultimate evening DNV Software hosted a social evening with a visit to a traditional English Pub, followed by a dinner of traditional English fayre including fish and chips, steak and kidney pie, followed by spotted-dick and custard. “This went down extremely well with our guests, much to our amazement” adds Colin Hickey.
