PetroChina will use their Liao Yang plant for evaluating Orbit+ as their future Asset Management System. The agreement has a potential for 20 more plants in the next phase, pending a successful pilot project.

Beijing 21.05.2007: CEO and President of DNV, Henrik Madsen, signs Memo of Understanding with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) for providing DNV’s Orbit+ software to the PetroChina Liao Yang pilot project.
The agreement is a result of BUCT and DNV Software jointly winning the pilot project which will be performed in competition with a local software vendor.
“I look forward to a fruitful cooperation with Beijing University of Technology and PetroChina on the Orbit+ software and related technology services,” says Henrik Madsen. “I’m glad to see that DNV are able to deliver a unique combination of software and services that are appealing to the fast growing markets in China”
The Orbit+ software from DNV is a comprehensive Asset Integrity Management system for inspection and maintenance of process plants. Orbit+ assists plant operators to optimize resource usage without compromising safety and availability. Orbit+ integrates with DNV’s Risk Based Inspection (RBI) tools and provides dual language support for Mandarin and English.
“I am very pleased to see our Asset Integrity Management Software prospering in China,” says Øystein Goksøyr, Regional Manager for DNV Software. “We are scaling up our staff in China as we speak to successfully support our new customers and partners”
The agreement with BUCT is the fourth in a row of major Orbit+ software contract in China so far this year. China Special Equipment Inspection & Research Centre (CSEI) and Hefei General Machinery Research Institute (GMRI), the only two nationally accredited companies for Risk Based Inspection (RBI) in China, recently signed up for Orbit+. So did also Jiangsu Province Special Equipment Safety Supervision Inspection Institute (JSSEI) who has the local responsibility for RBI in the Jiangsu province.
Says Alice Feng, Marketing Director for Orbit+: ”All contracts include reseller agreements for Orbit+. In this way we aim at establishing Orbit+ as the industry standard for inspection and maintenance management in China”
The breakthrough comes as a result of a more focused business strategy and marketing efforts. “I’m really glad to see our new business plan for Orbit+ bringing fruits so fast,” says Colin Yeh, Business Development Manager in Greater China, who looks forward to grow DNV’s software business in China further.
