DNV helps Sellafield with closing down 2 sites in a safe, economic and environmentally secure way.

Sellafield Ltd is the company responsible for the safe delivery of contracts in excess of 1b GBP/annum on behalf of site owners, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. The company’s two sites are in the process of decommissioning what amounts to 50% of the UK's nuclear legacy and fuel recycling, manufacture and waste management, making this, arguably, the world's biggest and most complex decommissioning and clean-up project.

Managing knowledge to ensure a safe clean-up

Following the NDA’s policy to manage its knowledge to ensure a safe, economic and environmentally secure clean-up operation, Sellafield Ltd selected DNV from a field of 21 competitors to support its knowledge management team to build their operations and capabilities. During the course of the project, DNV has proven its unique knowledge and capabilities in the field of knowledge management and has applied proprietary tools such its Knowledge Heath Check. DNV’s independence and its unique blend of innovative approaches to transferring its expertise built over the last 20 years have proven invaluable to Sellafield Ltd.
